Per your request I have reviewed the current market for the purpose of determining the fair market value for your 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe (VIN WP0AA299XVS32XXXX).
This car is unique in that it is among the last of the air cooled, flat six engines ever offered by Porsche. These "end of an era" air cooled 993 models of the Porsche 911 are coveted by enthusiasts and their values have risen sharply lately. There has been a decline in air cooled Porsches in the US due to overseas buyers. As a result of this trend it is expected the value of these models will rise 10-15% per year in the US.
This particular Porsche 911 is beautiful, original paint, low mile example that has never suffered any damage. This car is equipped with a 6 disc CD changer, 6 speed manual transmission with limited slip differential, and auto brake differential. The car retains the original manuals, spare tire and compressor. At the time of this appraisal the odometer reads 26,805. The mileage adjustment alone (added value) according to the dealer version of Kelly Blue Book is an astonishing $21,521.
The mechanical condition is perfect, and upgrades to the car include Porsche Turbo brakes and an aftermarket exhaust. These changes would be viewed as upgrades to many buyers so the trade off of originality vs upgrade likely cancels each other out in terms of value.
It is important to note that much of the value of this car comes from its originality. This 911 has the original hood and fenders. Any collision would affect the value far beyond the cost of repair. Any future claim should account for a significant drop in value due to any collision.
Comparable sales figures are hard to find due to the rarity of this model. Asking prices for similar cars range from $49,500-$60,000.
It is my professional opinion that this 1997 Porsche 911 has a fair market value of between $42,000-$57,000.
