This is a 1970 VW Karmann Ghia for sale. This is the most original Karmann Ghia I think I've ever seen. This car was manufactured in December of 1969 and there are records from the original owner dating all the way back to January of 1970.
That original owner was an airline mechanic and he was meticulous with his beloved Karmann Ghia. He kept track of maintenance throughout the years in a log book that is still with the car today!
I have my own 1973 Karmann Ghia and mine was originally owned by a dentist. My car also has records dating back to when it was almost new. It's a great felling to own a car that was cared for so thouroughly and maticulously.
From years of dealing in classic vehicles I can tell you buying a car that was owned by a dentist or in this case an airline mechanic is a sure way to get a fully sorted, meticulously cared for and well documented car.
Not only are there records going back to 1970 with the car but there are also original mechanical parts that, after being replaced, were carefully labeled and wrapped for preservation.
Car collectors and enthusiasts are always excited about provenance and this car has plenty. The original owner kept the original starter, the original carburetor, and even the original brake hoses. Going through the records and parts is almost akin to an archeological dig. I have a photo album linked below so you can go through each page of records dating back to the first entry in January of 1970.
I sold this same car to the third and current owner 11 years ago. She has put fewer than 1000 miles on it and it is now available for sale again for just the second time since it was new. You will be hard pressed to find a better-preserved example of the classic Volkswagen Karmann Ghia.
My friend and fellow classic Volkswagen enthusiast Pete Schow, who has also known this Karmann Ghia intimately for many years, recently rebuilt and tuned the carburetor and took care of other maintenance items to assure the car is ready for the next owner. As a result, and also due to meticulous care since new, this Karmann Ghia starts, runs, idles, stops and steers great.
As if finding such a well-preserved VW Karmann Ghia for sale wasn't exciting enough, the owner is donating a large portion of her proceeds to the charity Cancer Legal Care. She works for the charity and the proceeds will certainly help those in need.
The interior of this Karmann Ghia is original and in very good shape especially considering its age. The paint on the inside of the doors is original and the exterior has been repainted once. The paint shines like the sun as you can see from the photos.
There are over 200 photos total in the three photo galleries below. Enjoy the videos below the photo galleries and you'll have a great feel for the amazing condition of this 1970 VW Karmann Ghia for sale.
