We have a very solid 1969 Porsche 912 for sale. The Porsche 912 is one of my favorite cars and this is the second one that I have had the pleasure to offer. Both the present and previous owners of this 1969 Porsche 912 5 speed car are friends of mine and they both take excellent care of their cars. This classic Porsche has been no exception. They have each relied on the same local expert Porsche mechanic for maintenance and repairs. This knowledgeable mechanic worked as the lead Porsche mechanic at Westside Volkswagen here in the Twin Cities. He has since retired from that prestigious post and now has a successful business repairing classic Porsches. He has done thousands of dollars in improvements to this car and he definitely knows his stuff. This car is tuned perfectly.
As you might expect under the engine lid of a 1969 Porsche 912 is a clean looking 4 cylinder horizontally opposed engine with twin Solex carburetors and a centrifugal advanced distributor. However there is a difference within as the motor was bored out to 1750cc when it was rebuilt. A driver of this classic Porsche 912 now enjoys more horse power and added throttle response. The current owner estimates the rebuild has fewer than 2000 miles on it.
The solid body would make a great base for anyone looking to do a factory fresh restoration. The fact that it is so dry and solid means that the car can be enjoyed exactly as is without having to worry about corrosion or deterioration from rust that is so common in other Porsche 912s. This car can be enjoyed exactly as is.
But the value and nostalgia of classic Porsches does make a case for bringing this car up to a fully restored automobile. Everyone can dream of having a factory fresh Porsche 912 in their collection. This car would make a perfect candidate if the next owner decides to take it down to bare metal and re-spray it in either the color of their choice or back to its original Bahama Yellow. This was a beautiful stock '69 color and photos of how this car looked in its original coat can be seen in the close-up photo gallery just below this description. Also in the close-up photo gallery you will find copies of the many receipts detailing the recent work that has been done to this car.
The current paint color is a factory Porsche color from a decade or so after this car was produced. It has been rubbed out and it it shines quite nicely. There are some blemishes in the paint the most notable of which is on the passenger side door where a previous repair was done poorly. You can also find detailed shots of all the paint blemishes in the close-up gallery. A body shop familiar to the current owner said the passenger door wouldn't need to be re-skinned as there is good metal under the poor repair.
As you can see from the videos below, this car is a blast to drive, it's a super fun car to watch corner and u-turn, and it's definitely a thrill to ride in. The extra horse power from the bored out engine really ads to the fun of this classic Porsche 912. Pretty soon the next lucky owner will be putting smiles on the faces of all his or her friends and family.
