I am pleased to offer this rare 5-Speed 1967 Mercedes Benz 250 SL for sale. First available as an option in May of 1966, this 1967 model year car features the rare and desirable ZF 5-speed manual transmission. The one year production run of the '67 250 SL makes it the rarest of all W 113 cars. The improvements over previous models include a new 2,496cc engine with increased stroke, increased valve ports and 7 main bearings vs just 4 in the previous version. The result was improved torque (from 145 lb-ft to 159 lbs-ft) and better resilience thanks to a new radiator with increased capacity. Also '67 saw the addition of four wheel disc brakes while maintaining the stiff suspension of earlier cars. Only 5,196 Mercedes 250 SLs were produced.
This example maintains its original engine and maintenance records show care was given by each of the three owners. I have included maintenance receipts at the end of the photo gallery (the link is just below this description) showing the mileage to be original at 74k. The car has had a repaint from blue to red some time many years ago, and the interior was likely done at that time as well. Both the soft top and hard top are with the car and both are in good shape.
Check out the videos to see and hear how well this Mercedes 250 SL runs and drives. The rarity of the 5-speed make it likely you will be the only one at any Mercedes Benz car show. The 5-speed is not just a rare novelty but it really makes driving this classic SL a joy.
Please page through the 200 photos in the photo gallery below, and enjoy the videos below the photo gallery to really understand the sound and performance of this classic Pagoda. There are some imperfections here and there as pointed out in the photo gallery, but overall this car looks great and it can be enjoyed as is. Let me know if you have any questions or if you would like to reserve this 1967 Mercedes 250 SL for your collection!
