This is a beautiful 1967 Mercedes Benz 250 SL for sale. This rare classic Mercedes convertible is a European model with Euro headlights and dash gauges. An extensive, year-long nut and bolt restoration was just completed on the car with the odometer showing a total of only 11 KM when I returned after my photo shoot and test drive. This is a gorgeous example of a very rare Mercedes, and it is proudly finished in arguably the most desirable color combination of black over red.
History: This Mercedes 250 SL was purchased more than 15 years ago from a fellow classic car enthusiast in Texas. The car had been stored for 10 years prior to it being offered up for sale. After transporting the car to Minnesota, the current owner kept the car warm, dry and safe while awaiting the perfect opportunity to give this rare Mercedes the attention it deserved. The owner, now retired, spent the past year supervising the complete restoration of the car. The car was totally disassembled and rebuilt from the ground up. Every nut was removed and either replaced or cleaned resulting in the impeccable restoration shown here.
Mechanical: As you would expect with a restoration of this quality, the entire drive line has been restored. The entire engine was rebuilt with all new parts. The clutch is new, as are the u-joints, brakes, lines, wheel bearings, bushings and steering components. The suspension and tires are all new and the car has been fitted with a new stainless steel exhaust system.
Exterior: The body of this car underwent a complete, bare metal restoration. All bright work was polished, replated or replaced. The paint was done to a very high standard and the entire exterior of the car was finished and polished to a very high level. As you may know, black hides nothing when it comes to body work, and this car wears the color proudly.
Interior: The seats are done in the finest Italian leather. The carpet is the correct looped wool. The wood is new and all interior chrome has been replated or replaced. All of the gauges were tested and cleaned before the car was reassembled. The steering wheel is brand new. The correct radio, Becker Europa 2, is displayed in the dash. The radio works beautifully and the power antenna goes up and down with with the radio on/off switch. Every item on the dash works (including the light on the front of the glove box), and fresh bulbs were installed throughout the car. The door glass and windshield are new, as are all of the seals throughout the entire car.
Tops: The car has both the convertible soft top and the hard top. The soft top is a new correct canvas top. The hard top has been redone with new paint, seals and wood trim.
