Up for auction is this classic 1966 Jaguar 3.4S. The owner of a classic Limousine shop purchased the car 10 years ago for his wife. The car came from the super dry climate of Phoenix, AZ so it was and is a really nice, solid car. The Jaguar was used as a fun summer driver by the owner's family and it was kept garaged at his home during the summer and then stored during the winters.
The paint and interior were redone by the owner's restoration shop about 6 years ago. The car was treated to new paint, new leather, the wood was refinished, and it was given new glass (including front and rear window gaskets). This past summer the wiring system was completely gone through and as far as we know everything works on the car. The electric choke and horn were not working properly during the photo shoot but the owner assures that these items will be fixed by his shop and will be working well before the car is transferred to the new owner. There was also a hole in the muffler and that too will be fixed prior to the car being sold. There is one area of hidden, non-structural rust (the owner wasn't even aware it was there) high inside the driver's side front wheel well. This area is shown in the close-up photo gallery. The driver's side is the RIGHT side of the car. I'm still getting used to adjusting my terminology to suite this rare right hand drive automobile :-)
The paint looks very nice and it has a great shine. The owner mentioned that he has never taken the car out without someone commenting on it. The paint color combined with the beautiful red interior is truly striking. The paint is about six years old and while it's not 100% perfect it is obvious the car has been well cared for. I photographed the few small blemishes and included them in the close-up photo gallery. To the trained eye and in the right lighting some body work shows slightly in a few areas. This is nothing the casual observer would ever notice but there is likely some filler here and there on the car. It is obviously an extremely solid car from a dry climate (check out the photos of the undercarriage in the close-up gallery, it's impressive). The area under the spare tire in the trunk is super solid, as are all of the floors and undercarriage.
Please take some time to go through both photo galleries to fully appreciate this beautiful classic Jaguar. It's a gorgeous car and it is only being sold because of a change in family circumstances.
The car will definitely be missed but in turn it will most certainly be enjoyed by the lucky winner of this auction! So please feel free to ask any questions, please ask questions prior to bidding, enjoy the videos of the car running (and of the telescoping steering wheel) below, and Good Luck winning this auction!
