I have another rare opportunity to sell a 1964 VW Karmann Ghia Convertible as this beautiful blue Ghia is for sale. The rich Pacific Blue is the original color to this car. The interior, paint and top have been redone and the car sports a 1776cc engine with fewer than 3000 miles on it. The car runs, idles, shifts and stops very well, and the upgraded more powerful engine makes driving this classic '64 Karmann Ghia convertible a real treat.
The white wall tires really help this classic Karmann Ghia look its age. 1964 is early enough to still have some early Ghia treats. The heat is controlled by a turn handle on the floor that is located near the old-fashioned stick shift. The dome light is under the dashboard and it works great! The top has the ornamental strip above the back window, and the small tail lights and towel bar bumpers were certainly more artsy than the later large tail lights and single blade bumpers. The 'swan' side mirror and chrome strip on the inside of the doors are specific to early Ghia Convertibles. This car even has the proper chrome molding around the windscreen. This will make a great daily driver for the next lucky owners.
The car comes with two folders full of receipts showing that the owners of this car definitely cared for it, and as a further testament to how well loved this Ghia has been it has been with the current owner since the '80s!
Here are some specifics on the work that has been done recently, though all you need to know is that the car runs and drives like a dream come true. But here is a list to give you some specifics:
The car also has an air conditioning unit that used to be in the car for sale. For an extra $500 you can get the air conditioning system and new bumper guards to replace the ones on the car that are showing wear. There are some hoses in the passenger side wheel well that you can see in the close up photo gallery and these lines are for air conditioning. It's a valuable option and it would be fun to put on this classic Karmann Ghia convertible.
Thanks to the great running condition and new engine, this Ghia easily reaches 70 mph. All of the gauges work and the dash lights light up the classic dash face beautifully. The interior boasts new upholstery on the seats and new black carpet on the solid, rust free floor. There is a five-disc changer but the last time it was tried it wouldn't play a cd. But there are nice speakers and you will notice the amps in the trunk when you make your way through the photo galleries.
The only imperfections on the entire car are a few small paint chips here and there, some re-chroming that could be done to a few of the bumper pieces, a tear in the headliner on the inside of the new convertible top (the exterior and padding are still great), and a few small bubbles in the paint just below the door All of these imperfections can be viewed in detail in the close up photo gallery. So this will make a great looking daily driver that you won't have to worry about parking or enjoying. Even with the imperfections I wouldn't be surprised if it took trophies at your local car show.
So thanks for checking out this 1964 Karmann Ghia convertible. We have only had one other pre-70 convertible for sale and it didn't last long. Check out the photo galleries and videos and feel free to call with any questions or interest! John Snell
