This is an almost unheard of find: A completely original 1959 Jaguar XK150 for sale. My first involvement with this incredibly well preserved classic Jaguar was two years ago when I handled the sale of three original, original paint, low mile classic cars from an estate. The owner of the cars had passed away in the 1970s, and the gentleman's wife, not knowing what to do with the cars, simply covered them under a car cloth and left them untouched for over 40 years!
Since the discovery, a new owner and long time customer has taken this Jaguar to the next level. Over $3000 has been invested to get this Jaguar running, driving and stopping perfectly, and that cost figure doesn't even include a full, brand new exhaust system that came with the car that has now been installed. You likely won't find a more original Jaguar XK150 for sale.
If you've been shopping for a Jaguar XK150 Fixed Head Coupe you've probably noticed what is out there for sale are either fully restored examples with no uniqueness to separate one from the next, or vehicles that need a complete restoration. The restored Xk150s leave some question as to what lies under fresh paint. But imagine happening upon this unrestored, original XK150 at a Jaguar show. In a row of completely restored examples, which would you spend the most time viewing and appreciating? A perfect restoration is not only stressful to own, store, park and drive, but it offers little to separate it from a crowd. This Jaguar always attracts and keeps a swarm of onlookers, as it is truly amazing something this nice could also be in original condition.
The opportunity to own an original Jaguar XK150 as nice as this does not come around often, and the opportunity may not come up again anytime soon. Original cars have been setting auction records as of late, and the prices commanded have been rivaling and often surpassing completely restored examples. There really is no substituting the factory when it comes to assembling one of these masterpieces. This vehicle needs nothing to drive and enjoy. The condition is incredible given the age, and the only notable blemish other than a few very small imperfections in the paint are a small circle in the corner of the windshield out of the line of site, and the rear glass not seated fully in the rear corners of the car. Other than that the shine of both the paint and the chrome are very impressive. Even the original interior, seats, carpet and headliner are in very good condition.
The Jaguar includes the original mechanical items in the trunk (a grease gun, jack, and wrench) and there are manuals and other original documentation that come with the car. This may be a once in a lifetime opportunity that is destined to amaze and impress enthusiasts for years to come.
I have nearly 200 photos in the photo gallery below, and there are videos showing the numbers matching engine starting up and running. All lighting works as it should, and as I mentioned this XK150 Jaguar needs nothing to be enjoyed as is.
Take some time to go through the photos and videos, and let me know if you have any questions or if you would like to reserve this Jaguar Xk150 for your own collection or museum! -John Snell.
