The Jaguar XK150 was manufactured between 1957-1961. Only 3,078 left hand drive models and 1,367 right hand models were made during all years of production. The XK150 was the most refined version of this body style with earlier models being the XK120 and XK140. The numeric connection referred to the cars top speed.
This car is part of an estate consisting of a 1963 Jaguar Mark 2, a 1955 Ford Thunderbird, and this 1959 Jaguar XK150 for sale. All three cars have been sitting covered in a dry garage since the late 1970s. The car would need mechanical attention to be road worthy again, though it looks as if the car was in running condition prior to being stored. None of the cars in the estate have driven since about 1977 when the husband of the family passed away. The wife left the cars covered in a heated garage and actually rented another garage for her own car as to keep these cars in good condition. For decades the cars sat untouched and covered until the spring of 2014. They are now offered up for sale individually to the highest offer by the end of July 2014.
The VIN on this 1959 Jaguar XK150 Fixed Head Coupe is VIN S835701 and the mileage at this time reads 78,488. This is an extremely original, nearly untouched example of an already rare car. This Jaguar is in original paint and the paint is in remarkably excellent condition. It is nearly unheard of to see a car from the 1950s in original paint, let alone in original paint that is still in such amazing condition. The chrome is still very nice throughout. The interior could use a good cleaning but otherwise it is also in very good condition.
The engine is a 3.8L straight 6-cylinder motor. This version has two carburetors as opposed to the more rare and powerful three carburetors set up. There is an overdrive transmission behind the car so one could speculate it was purchased because the current transmission is not equipped with overdrive. The tight quarters prevented me from inspecting the transmission but it is a manual car.
The trunk has the original tool kit and the original spare tire still in place. The tool to open the compartment for the spare is in its proper place. The original owner's manual and other original documents come with the car. The title was transferred into the owner's wife's name when the husband passed away in 1977. It is possible this has been a one-owner car, but history prior to 1977 isn't clear.
I have created a photo gallery below this description to help you determine the condition of this rare find. This car will be sold to the highest offer by the end of July 2014. Thank you for checking out this 1959 Jaguar XK150 for sale!
