Right hand drive. Nice straight all aluminum body, one of 1,883 Built!
We have a rare all aluminum body 1955 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith for sale, one of only 1,883 Silver Wraith's built. This classic right hand drive Rolls Royce has nice straight panels with no sign of any previous collision damage. The frame seems to be nice and solid. The car had been sitting all winter when I did my inspection and the engine fired right up.
The paint is in fair condition and the body is nice and straight with no signs of obvious rust. It looks antiquated which has some novelty. The finish has some chips and cold cracking. It's what we call a 20 footer (it looks quite good from 20 feet away). The bottoms of the doors and other areas typically prone to rust seem to be in good shape. I took pictures of all of these areas too so you could make your own assessment. The car was photographed very dusty and washing the car would help the appearance considerably. If the car doesn't sell during this auction I plan to wash the car and shoot photos in bright sunshine in a beautiful location. If you are lucky enough to win the auction in this auction you can most likely get the car at a better price than if we re-run the auction with better pictures.
As you will hear in the videos at our Sunset Classics Web site, the car runs quietly and the motor sounds smooth. The car hadn't been started all winter and prior to the photo shoot and the car started up just fine. There is a brake pedal (it feels as if the brakes are good) and the car was in service at a limousine shop recently, and while we did not drive the car due to the salty roads, my guess is that the car could be drivable with little or no work. But please keep in mind that we did not take the car on a test drive and the car is being sold as-is. I know the brake lights work, the horn works, and the car seemed to shift into gear just fine. The motor starts up nicely. The passenger side rear door (left side) catches on the front door when it opens so that needs an adjustment. It's my goal for buyers to know exactly what they are buying and this is one way to reach that goal. The other is to provide the hundred plus photos in the galleries below.
